LOCH GAIRLOCH

This Loch is located just outside the beautiful village of Gairloch & is roughly an hours drive from Taigh a' Bhraoin. This is the perfect spot to go for a long brisk walk along the coast. There are also some lovely pubs and shops within the village. Gairloch is a great place to explore when in Wester Ross

RHIROY BROCH

About 2 miles north of Taigh a' Bhraoin lies the village of Rhiroy where there are the remains of a Broch (ancient dwelling) dating back to the Bronze Age.

It is situated on the hillside of the road above the Rhiroy Holiday Bungalows. Look carefully and you will see part of ancient history on the doorstep of Taigh a' Bhraoin

ACHNAHAIRD BEACH

This beach is about 30 miles North of Ullapool and is reached by following directions for Achiltibuie.

Just a short walk to soft sand and rock pools, there are lovely views of Stac Polly and other mountains. Not to mention, this beach is reserve for wild cats and golden eagles!

SUMMER ISLES

During the summer months you can catch some magnificent sunsets over the appropriately named Summer Isles. This amazing collection of islands including Tanera Mor are famous for their outstanding beauty. 

Shearwater cruises carries out regular trips around the Summer Isles from Ullapool. On the cruise you will not only be able to take in the magnificent scenery but also catch glimpses of some of the amazing wildlife the area has to offer. Although nothing is guaranteed, past sightings have included Eagles, Dolphins, Killer, Humpbacked and Minke Whales and numerous sea birds.

Shearwater Cruises

GRUINARD BAY

Following the A832, less than an hours drive away from Taigh a’ Bhraoin is Gruinard Bay. Made up of 3 pink sandy beaches from Torridon rocks, Gruinard Bay has stunning views of the Coigach Hills and An Teallach

ACHMELVICH BAY

Just north of Lochinver is this beautiful white sandy beach. This is a popular spot for kayakers and windsurfers as well as fishing for cod, haddock and mackerel. 

There are also many walks near by, such as the Suilven for those who love climbing!


CORRIESHALLOCH GORGE

Corrieshalloch Gorge and the Falls of Measach are located a few miles from Taigh a' Bhraoin on the main Ullapool road towards Inverness. The spectacular natural gorge is approximately 1.5 kilometres long  and over 60 metres deep. Rushing through this gorge is the River  Droma falling 100m over the course of a ¾-mile journey. There is a series of paths allowing you to discover this hidden Highland landscape
